Today is the day that Mitch, my belated husband, and i would be celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary. I pondered on it quite a bit yesterday rather dreading the next day. I was worried I’d want to have a good boo hoo and be done with it. On top of that the kids have once again headed back to Pennsylvania. Which always gets me a little weepy. I’m sure you can relate.
So, how would we have spent the day, you may or may not have wondered. Mitch loved to eat out. He loved to eat…period. It was his favorite thing to do. But, on our anniversary it was one of those special high dollar places, like Red Lobster, LOL Expensive for us it seemed. We would eat our way through some serious crab legs and don’t forget those yummy garlic biscuits.
That didn’t end the evening. Once a year we would use our big and I do mean big, jacuzzi tub. Jet streams and all. It would fit 4 people. No, never did that, but just guessing. Anyway, it held so much water we didn’t want to use it often because we didn’t want to waste the water. It was the way we were raised. We should have indulged more but we did bath the dog as well. Waste not want not!
Didn’t want to share too many details. I mean I am talking about our wedding celebration. I will tell you this much, we sure had a laugh over our simple way of celebrating. Laughter is after all the best form of medicine. Just being together was enough. No flowers, no gifts.
So, on your wedding anniversary just remember the moments you did have together and run those snap shots thru your mind and celebrate them always. Remember, it’s better to have loved then to not have loved at all.
Your friend in Christ,
Paula
