Yes. Believe it or not, we as widows still have a purpose even after losing our other half. It does truly feel like you are missing half of yourself. Let’s face it, in marriage, two people who love one another become as ONE!
Did you not attend Peace and Purpose in a Season of Change workshop and listen to our guest speaker, Jill, encouraging us to define ourselves as individuals with a purpose once again, in this season? It’s true, you know, we all have a purpose. No matter how big or small that purpose may be, and you never know until you put that purpose to use.
When I first moved to New Braunfels, I was eager to find a purpose in a huge way. I bought a business. Please give yourself more time than I did in running after that purpose. I was feeling lost and had a terrible void in my life to fill. I overshot what I thought was my purpose because I felt like it was a ministry in which to help other widows because we had several come into the shop. It was the Crossing Boutique, where we sold beautiful clothes, and I thought I could listen and relate to widows, being a widow myself.
The problem was that you can’t run a business that way because guess what? There are bills to be paid and employees that don’t work for free, plus there’s buying inventory. I thought God wanted me there. It wasn’t until COVID hit, and it all went south, that I realized it was time to move on.
At that point, I was once again thinking, “What Now”? Funny thing was, Beauty from Ashes was right in front of me the whole time, and it took me being knocked down a notch to realize you don’t have to go that big to have purpose. I’m fulfilling a bigger purpose now by glorifying the Lord by showing HIS greatest commandment. LOVE ONE ANOTHER! So, what am I saying exactly is…..Big things come in small packages.
Your friend in Christ,
Paula
